Yesterday night Vinit was driving back home at about 2 am when his car (a 1986 Maruti 800) decided to stop working about 10 mins drive from our place (Thats at the speed I drive). So me and Surabhi decided to go help him.

We took a rope from home and drove to where he was stalled. The problem was that the car would start but the accelerator wasn’t working so the car would stall after a few seconds. Anyways we looked at the engine but as all three of us are computer engg and not mechanical we couldn’t figure out what was wrong. So we used the rope to tie the two cars together and towed the car home.

The rope did break twice but we managed to get home. Believe me it was really boring driving at 10 kmph on a road that I usually go at 80-90 kmph. For me it was a really easy drive but Vinit was covered with sweat by the time we got home as he had to be careful that he didn’t hit my car if I suddenly braked.

Thankfully the distance wasn’t that far otherwise it would have taken a lot more time. As it was late at night there wasn’t any traffic to worry about either.

Felt bad for Vinit, as he had just come back from Jaipur and must have been exhausted.

The past few days it has been raining a lot over here. In-fact in the last week it had rained pretty much everyday. The rain it good but it brings assorted problems with it.

Last Tuesday night/Wednesday morning it was raining very heavily. I was at work till late and wanted to leave but because it was raining so hard, me and Shipra decided to wait for the rain to stop before we left. After almost 1 1/2 of waiting the rain stopped for a little while so we both ran out and got into our respective cars.

A minute later we found out that the left front tyre of her car was stuck in a ditch. Apparently the rain washed away a lot of the mud and the tyre sunk into the ground. Plus this hole was now filled with water so we couldn’t get any traction on the wheel. Spent almost half an hour trying to get the car out and ended up being covered in mud. (Good thing I was wearing brown pants). Finally managed to get it out on the last try. If that try hadn’t succeeded we would have left the car there and used my car to get home. Thankfully that wasn’t needed.

To top things off, Lots of power lines went down that night so there was no electricity at home and to make things even more fun there was a short in my house wiring (water got into an outlet) so the inverter also stopped working. Spent the night without power. Then in the morning when the power came back the door bell wouldn’t stop ringing. (yes, it was another stupid short). Finally figured out which fuse to trip to stop the stupid ringing. (I was half asleep and really cranky)

Its a pain to drive when its raining. Although its a lot of fun when you are sitting at home watching rain from indoors. But I guess its better than the heat.

Yeah, dad decided that the bathroom should have been on the other side of the room and the study also needed an attached bathroom. So two new bathrooms are being constructed and my poor bathroom is being demolished (sort of) to be converted to a servant quarter.

So right now I have been relocated to Surabhi’s room. 🙁 I miss my room. If you want I can post pictures of the mess my bathroom is in right now: the door was demolished and is going to be blocked, and a new door is being created at the other end of the bathroom. The nice shelves etc are also being demolished.

The study is in a worse shape. Over there pretty much the entire wall has been broken down. Right now they are in the process of digging up the floor to lay down the pipes etc for the sewage connection. So as soon as you enter the house it looks like a trench is being dug across the open space.

Upgraded my net connection at home to 1MBps unlimited connection. Now it feels like I am finally back on the information superhighway.

Love the new speed. Airtel also has an 8mbps connection but they have a bandwith quota on it. Which I know is a bad idea for me. The last time I had a quota based connection I had to pay almost Rs 40,000 in internet connection charges. (The connection was for Rs 250)

Hi everyone! As usual I have gotten busy with real life and not updated the blog. So here’s a summary of what I have been doing since my last update:

1. Working: Spent a lot of time at work. One of the project’s deadlines got preponed and had to pitch in on the project. Spent some time working on data migration issues also. It was an interesting experience. Got home at 8 – 8:30 am a couple of times. But I enjoy working over here.

2. Reading: Read a couple of interesting books: “Reserved for the Cat” by Mercedes Lackey. Its the 6th book in the Elemental mage series and it was an ok read. I liked the other books in the series more. Also read the entire Lost Fleet series by Jack Campbell. Really like this series. Am really waiting for the next book in the series to come out.

3. Rafting: Went for a rafting trip with Surabhi, Vinit and Ridhi. It was an amazing trip. We got to Rishikesh late in the afternoon and immediately left for rafting. Since there have to be atleast 7-8 people in a raft our group was paired with another group which had three girls in it. I enjoyed the trip a lot. We got to do; rafting, cliff jumping, rock climbing, rappelling, crossing the Burma bridge and kayaking. The water was freezing.

The second night we got hit with a sandstorm and then it started raining so the next day the water level was a lot higher and the rapids were even better. The guide we had was fun and made us play some really cool games. The one I enjoyed the most was where we had to stand up during a rapid and try not to fall.

Yes I took photos (Obviously) however my camera was low on battery (don’t ask) so we used Shivani’s camera also to take photos. We have some really nice pics on her camera so I am waiting to get those pics before I upload photos to the website. I should have them by next weekend. Till then, all you got to do is wait…
