Early morning flights in winter from Delhi is what is known as a ‘bad idea’. The fog is insane. This time I had a 6:45am flight and since we were expecting fog we left home at 4am.

The visibility was down to a couple of meters and at a couple of places it went down to zero visibility. At times driving was more of guess work than actually knowing where the road was. I was quite happy that I wasn’t the one driving. 🙂

At the moment I am sitting in the plane and the pilot just announced that we are no 28 in the departure queue and that we can expect a delay of about 20mins. 🙁

I guess I can use the time to blog :). Well this is all for now. Will post more later.

Staying at home is a lot of fun, but not when you are woken up really early in the morning and given neem ka juice to drink every day. So far I have had it twice and that is 2 times too many. I think my taste buds are committing suicide as I write this. 😉

Other than the daily dose of Neem life here is good, I have been working from home for the past week so that I can finish up my wedding shopping etc and thus haven’t really spent a lot of time with the family but since tomorrow is a holiday I get to spend the whole day with family. hopefully I won’t get drafted to help move stuff around as the house is being painted, furniture being polished etc etc.

Watched Tron: Legacy a couple of day ago and really liked it. Didn’t really remember a lot of the original Tron so I am sure I missed a lot of subtext but it was still a cool movie and the effects were good, the 3D wasn’t overdone and wasn’t a prop to distract viewers from the lack of a storyline (like certain other movies I can name). Want to go watch the new Narnia movie also, but lets see. The only show in Noida is at 12:30 pm and that’s a bit too early for me to go watch a movie.

Wow, I checked the blog today after a long time and realized that it’s been over 2 months since I posted anything.

I guess time does fly when you are having fun. The past few months have been fun. Finally settling down in bangalore with work and adjusting to having a life again. Another adjustment has been realizing that I will be married in a little over a months time.

Writing this at the airport waiting for my flight on my Galaxy Tab. Can’t for Airtel to launch 3G so I can surf faster when travelling.

My new 2 TB HDD that I just bought about a month ago just crashed. Its not completely dead yet but it refused to let me write to the disk a couple of times and the disk has started making the click of death. Thankfully its still functional enough for me to copy the data off it. I had most of it except the music and movies already backed up so wasn’t too worried. But its functional enough that I am in the process of backing up everything to the other 1TB drive I have.

Might need to borrow drive space from Surabhi and Vinit till I get it replaced but atleast I didn’t loose data.

But I am disappointed in Segate. This is the first time i have had a drive die on me in a month. The others that died on me had reason to, one got dropped from the table the other traveled with me all over the world so it was probably exposed to some shock or something during the travel.

Now I need to find appropriate packaging to ship the drive to Segate and wait for them to ship me a new drive… 🙁 Ah well… Not a lot I can do about it.

Wow… Its October 2nd already and that makes it 6 years since I made the first post on this blog. When I started off I was posting one post a day atleast, and on some days I even made multiple posts a day. Over time things got a bit hectic and I got a bit lazy so the frequency went down to a couple of times a week and now is down to once or twice a month.

I have decided to increase the frequency again to at least a post a week. Once that is a regular occurrence I will increase the frequency to twice or thrice a week.

In anycase here are some stats on the blog:

Busiest day: Jan 7th 2010 (I lost all my stats for 2008-2009 when the service I used to track the stats went down)

I will see if I can extract more stats from my http logs but that pretty much depends on how many of the old logs I have on the server and how long it will take me to extract the stats from them. So don’t hold your breath.

Wow, its been a while since I last posted on the blog. I think its one of the longest periods I have gone without posting anything. No excuses, just didn’t feel like posting anything.

Anyways things are changing on my side so wanted to share with all the readers that I will be under going some major changes in life in the next couple of months. Basically today we finalized my wedding plans and had the Roka. The girl’s name is Ruchi and she is working with SAP. Did the Roka today and the engagement/wedding discussions are on.

At a trip with friends to watch the famous snake boat race in Kerela. It is an anual race that has been going on for over 50 years now. There are 8 of us who have come for the trip and so far its been a lot of fun.

We(Rithika, me and Rahul) left office at around 4 to pick up Deepika and Gaurav and then have the driver drop us at the train station where Surabhi and Vinit would meet up withh us. There was some confusion with the car and since we were getting late we ended up taking an auto to the station. Becasuse of the time constraints we endded up fitting all five of us plus our luggage in one auto. Thankfully we made it on time.

In the train ride we played a lot of card games and after the rest of the group went off to sleep me, Gaurav and Deepika went outside and sat next to the open door to enjoy the cool wind. Lot of fun.

Reached here at 6:30 am and am right now supposed to be resting. The race is in the afternoon so we have a few hours.

Went to an Indian Ocean concert yesterday. They were performing at Hard Rock Cafe so we left work at around 8 and managed to get tickets. Unfortunately there was some confusion with the tickets and we ran short by one ticket, because the person who had the last ticket wasn’t available. Since Sid was driving and had to park the car he was the one who got stuck waiting outside while this was resolved as the rest of us were already inside.

Finally after about 1/2 hour or so everything was resolved and he was able to get in, but then it took him a long time to get all the way to the front of the crowd as we were right in front of the stage.

The concert was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. Once it got over we went back home and since none of us had had dinner Rithika made Maggi for all of us while Sherlock was entertaining the rest of us and trying to eat my fingers.

Can’t think of a lot more to write since I have had a long day. So this is all for now. Will write more later.

Was woken up at 7am today by a very active puppy (Sherlock) trying to eat my hair and lick my face. It was quite a rude awakening.

Thanks a ton Surabhi… She let him into my room at 7am because Sherlock was sitting outside my door crying and trying to get in. As soon as he got in he jumped on me and starting trying to eat my hair. When he was stopped from that he decided that licking my face was much more fun. Gah..

Try being woken up from a sound sleep by something jumping on you and then eating your hair. Not fun. Had to kick both of them out from the room so that I could go back to sleep.

What added insult to the injury was the fact that Surabhi just sat there and kept watching this entire scene without helping and had the gall to laugh throughout.

Ah well, tonight I am going to make sure that the door is locked before I go to sleep 😉

Last weekend I flew down to Chennai from Bangalore for some work. The flight from Bangalore to Chennai is about 1 hour long and the plane is one of those propeller planes (I forget the name at this time). So I boarded the bus totake us from the terminal to the plane and once e got there we had to wait for a few minutes in the bus to let them finish cleaning up the plane.

During this time I noticed a person in Kingfisher security uniform frisking a person who had just gotten out from the plane. I thought it was pretty strange but whatever… then another guy got out from the plane carrying a garbage bag and he too was frisked and the garbage bag checked. Once they were checked they walked away from the plane with the trash.

Now can someone please explain to me what the purpose of frisking a person who is leaving the plane is? I can understand them frisking a person entering the plane but why would you need to frisk a person leaving the plane. Its not like there is a lot of expensive stuff on the plane which can be stolen. The only item that they could steal really easily would be the food and I don’t think that would want to steal it.

Although, if the cleaners had access to the luggage hold then it makes a bit more sense. But then again most checked in luggage is large enough to make sneaking it off the plane difficult.

Watching this I thought that this must be some quirk at the Bangalore airport so when I saw it again at the Chennai airport during my flight back I was even more surprised.

Anyways, I thought it was interesting and funny so decided to share.
