Candidate says bulletproof books could save lives in school shootings

You have got to be freaking kidding me…

A retired veteran and candidate for Oklahoma State School Superintendent says he wants to make schools safer by creating bulletproof textbooks.

Bill Crozier says the books could give students and teachers a fighting chance if there’s a shooting at their school.

  1. what is so good to make bulletproof textbooks if we dont hardly carry
them. what should be done is to make everyone that goes to school have
only what is reqired for school and nothing else. Maybe thats what we need
to do so that there wont be anymore deaths at schools.

  2. Even if you could carry the books (Which I am not saying that you can as they will be heavy as hell) carrying them will not make schools any safer. As best they will stop injury in a very small area leaving the rest of the body unprotected, at worst it will create a sense of false security amongst students.

Think about it, if a couple of students have a bullet proof book do you think they will run if some one starts shooting at them or will they try to get closer to the action thinking that the books will protect them?

Also, restricting items allowed in schools is not going to solve anything. Even at prisons where everything is restricted prisoners found ways to get access to weapons etc. So what makes you think schools will be different?

We need to teach the kids that killing anyone is not an answer and also change the highschool system so that a few ‘cool’ people don’t make life hell for the ones that don’t fit their definition of cool. That would reduce a lot of the frustration level.
