Writers Digest from the 1930's and '40s is a treasure-trove of information about what it was like to be a writer in that time, and more often how to write for and sell to magazines of the time. If you were interested in writing fiction, then more often than not this meant Pulp magazines.

Occasionally looking through old issues, you'll come across something really special -- like this pictorial of the biggest Pulp producer of the time, Popular Publications, publisher of The Spider—Master of Men!
